Good Cycling Code

Please follow these simple code od the Sliabh Beagh Routes:

  • cycle with careAlways follow The Rules of the Road
  • Give way to Pedestrians
  • Remember that some people are hard of hearing or visually impared. Do not assume thay can see or hear you.
  • Where there are wheel chair users please give way.
  • Be courteous and considerate to others , achnowledge those who give way to you.
  • Watch your speed when close to others and do not race.
  • Rind a bell or politely call to acknowledge people who give way to you.
  • Respect countryside activities such as farminf and forestry
  • Alongside water be aware of the space needed by anglers and boat users

 

Look after yourself

  • HappyCyclingTake special care at junctions, when cycling downhill and on lose surfaces.
  • Match your speed to the surface and your skills.
  • Cycle within your capabilities, as an accident or breakdown in remote areas can be frustrating, if not moe serious.
  • Ensure your bike is safe to ride.
  • In remote areas carry a warm and waterproof clothing, emergency food, map, a lamp, and a compass.
  • Keep your bike roadworthy: use lights in poor visibility.
  • Always take tools and a puncture repair kit.
  • Wearing a helmet and conspicuous clothing while riding your bicycle is a requirement of the law in the UK and Ireland.

Care for the Environment

Follow the country Code; in particular, respect crops, livestock and wildlife and TAKE YOUR LITTER Home.

Keep erosion to a minimum in sensitive areas.
